Leave it to a developer creating a sniper game to be a little guarded in its announcements. Indie developer Revolver today announced that it will be announcing an even bigger announcement next week regarding the release of the upcoming Sniper Elite 3 on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. It is as if Revolver is saying, 'I dare you. Step out into the open.' as it fixes its crosshairs on you.
Enemy Front Trailer Puts You In The Shoes Of WWII Resistance Fighters
What is it about? Hard to say. CEO and Creative Director Jason Kingsley said: "...there's always more work to be done getting the Sniper Elite name in the hearts and minds of gamers who are new to the IP, or aren't aware of the stealth and emergent gameplay that surrounds the core sniping mechanics"
To which he ominously added: "Next week's news will be a huge step towards this goal."
Revolver is self publishing the PC version game, which will be available on Steam. The game launches in the UK and Europe on all supported platforms on June 27. The game drops stateside on July 1st. Pre-orders are now being accepted. Exclusive to Steam is a 20% discount on the game's launch price, while the anticipated DLC mission Target Hitler: Hunt the Grey Wolf will be included as part of the game's price.
Sniper Elite 3 is a WWII shooter that puts you in "...North Africa 1942... The heat is on. Germany is building a wonder weapon with the power to crush any Allied forces in its path. The Afrika Korps, including a division of Tiger Tanks, stand in your way. Sabotage their plans or the Allied resistance is over." A more patient game for a more patient type of gamer.
