Popular adrenaline soaked, uber macho side scrolling retro shooter Broforce from developer Free Lives has been updated on Steam Early Access. The company took in comments from users and have tweaked some of the in game elements and missions, as well as adding two new bros to the game's already robust line up, which includes such 80s era icons as such as Rambro, Brommando and Brobocop.
Characters We Want To See In Broforce
Broforce is a chaotic, side scroller shoot em up, a la Contra that also boasts destructible everything. Even the ground can be blown up with enough firepower. "When evil threatens the world, the world calls on Broforce - an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary organization dealing exclusively in excessive force." Children of the 80s rejoice, now you can live out every ultra-patriotic, Hollywood excess power fantasy that all of the great action heroes gave you during your childhood.
The two new Bros are Jean Claude van Damme inspired. "Time Bro, a Bro who has the power to slow down time and inflict definitive carnage against enemies with his beretta, and Broniversal Soldier, who can bring fallen bros and dead enemies back to fight alongside you because Freedom never dies, are now playable. Players will also encounter a new mechanized enemy unit that wreaks massive mech destruction, because mechs are awesome killing machines, but must be stopped at all costs in the name of freedom, justice and the American way. Oh, and when you stop it you can get inside and f*ck shit up." Free Lives words, not mine.
1001 Spikes Will Kill You 1001 Different Ways
I feel like less of a man just reading that description. I'm gonna need to go lift, then probably punch a Communist in his stupid, red loving face. Then eat some apple pie. Then f*ck that apple pie. Those are my words.
The game's tongue is planted firmly in cheek, which is part of its appeal. The other part is, of course, an excessive use of violence to dominate your 8 bit adversaries. The game also boasts a 4 player local and multi-player deathmatch and co-op modes. Players can create and share their own levels with the game editor and will feature new updates ever month from Free Lives. The beta version was released on Steam Early Access last month for $14.99 and it can always use more of your feedback.
