'Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark' Gameplay Trailer Brings Epic Destruction To Franchise [VIDEO]

In what sounds like the most metal concept album of all time, Activision and Edge Of Reality have released the gameplay trailer for its upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, the latest in the Transformers: War For Cybertron game series, which will cross over into the upcoming Michael Bay directed Transformers: Age of Extinction. All of which are albums I'll buy and listen to while roadtripping. Man, the Transformers band is wicked, son!

The game promises plenty of robot on robot action. Console players will get to experience the tale as a rough and tumble 3rd person action game, while handheld gamers get to test their wits in a strategy RPG version of the tale. The single player campaign will allow players to choose sides, electing either to save the Earth alongside the Autobots or destroy it as one of the Decepticons.

The trailer features lots of explosions. This is meant to tie into a Michael Bay movie, after all. And a dramatic voice over from Optimus Prime, which is also a very Michael Bay-ian trope. Do I have any idea what's going on? Of course not, but hey, Michael Bay. To bring forth destruction, players will have many characters to choose from, including Prime, Starscream, Jetfire, Warpath and the always reliable Soundwave.

In addition to its single player campaign, the game will also feature the Escalation multiplayer feature, which is a co-op mini game where players have to fend off wave after mechanical wave of enemies. These types of scenarios get a bum rap and I can't for the life of me figure out why, I think they're great.

Rock out with the metal gods below. Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark arrives June 24th for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, WiiU, 3DS and the PC.
