In what once seemed like it was on its way to a yearly franchise, Left 4 Dead, the incredibly fun co-op zombie shooter game from Valve, is finally getting the second sequel, Left 4 Dead 3, or so says former Valve designer (and Counter-Strike creator) Minh Le in an interview.
Gabe Newell Talks Half-Life 3, Or Does He?
"I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like 'wow, this looks great'. Because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was just one of those games that really just changed the industry. I think at the time there wasn't many good co-op games, so yeah, this is a great co-op game," Le said in a Twitch interview.
Okay, both Left 4 Dead games are great. But this is Valve, and frankly, there is only one game with '3' in the title that anyone cares about - okay, there are two games with '3' in the title that anyone cares about: Portal 3 and of course, the reason we're all in this business, Half-Life 3. On that subject, Le was a bit cagey, "...and so if I were to say that yeah, I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news to be honest...But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn't surprise anyone if I said they're doing it, they're working on it, yeah."
That's hardly the strongest 'yes, of course the sequel to the single greatest game of all time is being worked on by an army of Valve employees locked away so they never see the sun again' but it's not a no. Do remember that Le is no longer a member of the Valve team, so he may have an axe to grind or be motivated into telling us disinformation. All those Fallout 4 reports turned out to be bogus, too.
8BitBoy Gets A Serious Upgrade
It is safe to say that Left 4 Dead 3 is definitely in development. The series does not have this legendary status like Half Life possesses.
