Real Life Superhero Documentary ‘My Name Is Jonah’ Set To Make NYC Debut

Guardians of the Galaxy Second Trailer Promises Interstellar Adventure

Jonah Washnis, a "self proclaimed 'real life warrior', adventurer and musician". The man has gained quite the cult following in recent years, and caught the eye of Massachusetts' based directors Phil Healy and Jb Sapienza, who followed the leather wearing, bike riding, katana slicing character and turned it into the new documentary, My Name Is Jonah. The film has been entered into this year's Lower East Side Film Festival and will make its big New York City debut on June 15th at 7pm. The festival runs from June 12 to 22. You can buy tickets for My Name Is Jonah here. And you should, you really, really should.

The film recently won Best New England Film from the Boston Underground Film Festival. The website for the documentary, mynameisjonahfilm.com, boldly proclaims that it was rejected from the Sundance, Tribeca and even Slamdance festivals, so you can bet that this isn't a movie that plays nice, nor does it care or want to. Everyone single one of us has wondered, at some point in our lives, if we could be a superhero, a Batman like crusader for justice, no powers needed. It's hard not to admire Jonah, who just went ahead and did it. We can't be Kick-Ass, but maybe we all could be Jonah.

You won't forget the name. Watch the trailer for My Name Is Jonah below.
