EA Sports has announced an entirely new Ultimate Team mode for FIFA 14 as we head into the real-life World Cup. On May 29, they will be updating FUT to include a new, separate World Cup mode.
FUT La Liga Team Of The Season Revealed And Released
It will be a free automatic update that includes national team versions of player cards, including kits and new chemistry mechanics based on nationality and governing confederation (UEFA, CONCACAF, etc).
The World Cup mode will be accessible in Ultimate Team, complete with a new look and menu design similar to the standalone 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil title. Everyone will get a starter pack with players, a badge, and kits from your supported nation.
FUT Bundesliga Team Of The Season Cards Announced
There is a separate FUT World Cup store, where you can purchase new players and consumables--they are "unique and untradeable", and can only be found in World Cup packs. Your current FUT team can't be brought in to the World Cup update, as EA is striving to make an authentic national team-only mode. Coins and FIFA points, though, can be used across both.
However, every FUT World Cup pack will contain a free Gold card pack for your regular FUT team, for use outside of the new World Cup mode. This will both give people incentives to play the new World Cup mode if they'd otherwise be uninterested, and keep players going back to the normal FUT mode.
EA also mentioned a "World Cup Kick-off" addition coming in the same update, which is presumably a national team-focused version of the normal exhibition Kick-off. Watch the trailer below to see the new FUT World Cup mode for yourself.
