The competition is set to take place on June 10, and will square off 16 previously selected "highly skilled" Super Smash Bros. players live on stage at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater. Titled the "Super Smash Bros. Invitational", it will be available to a large audience of in-person spectators, as well as streamed live on Twitch's E3 channel and Nintendo's Twitch and YouTube channels.
This will be the first live look at the game, which has only appeared in trailers and screenshots so far. Nintendo updates the official site daily with a new image and accompanying description, but that's the only source of information since the Super Smash Bros-focused Nintendo Direct video.

Nintendo noted that fans who arrive in the costumes of characters from the series may be selected for priority seating up front--a way to reward some of the most dedicated and passionate fans. The event will be filmed and photograph, they remind us, so the best costumes could appear online.
Wristband distribution begins at 9:30 a.m., and a band is required for entry. They have 3,000 to give out, and will do so on a first-come first-served basis, but don't want people lining up beforehand. Doors open for the event later at 2:30 p.m., and the order that wristbands were given out in the morning do not affect the order of entry.
