More and more, free-to-play is proving to be viable model, especially in the mobile marketplace. Case in point, Nekki's Shadow Fight 2 on iOS has soared past other mobile smashes like Clash of Clans and Angry Birds to take the number 1 spot for the iPad in over 25 countries.

That's the news according to a new press release, which lists the game as a hit in countries including Japan, South Korea, and even right here at home in the good 'ol U.S. of A. The game even has a presence on Facebook, which no doubt contributes to the game's increasing popularity.
Set to help the game climb even higher is the game's recent availability to Android. The fighter hit the OS in late April, and maintains an average rating of 4.7 out of 5, based on more than 360,000 votes.
Shadow Fight 2 blends classical one-on-one fighting with an RPG element, allowing players' fighters to equip special weapons and sets of armor. The gameplay consists of battling silhouettes, enacting some fancy ass martial arts, which are considerably complex and impressive looking given the platform. Leveling up your fighter to give them more abilities and different grades of weapon and armor help keep things zesty.
Nekki's plans to expand its ever growing Shadow Fight 2 player base include free future updates, which will deliver additional bosses, story twists, new sets of unique armor, more weapons, international leaderboards, and new modes such as competitive PVP-battles.
