The Capture Creator mode for Grand Theft Auto Online has been with us now since early April, and obviously, some have a better handle on it than others.
For the rest of us, developer Rockstar has provided a basic guide on the ins and outs of creating a capture job, and in the interest of getting your creation out there among the hungry masses, we've narrowed the guide down to the absolute basics. This, is "Capture Jobs Made Easy."
Grand Theft Auto Online's "Bad Sport" System is Broken
If you're an old hat at GTA Online's Creator, than you'll be familiar with most of the concepts for making Capture Jobs. Even if you're not, things like providing a Title, Description, and Photo are all self explanatory, so let's jump ahead to the Placement Menu, where we break down the elements making up Capture Jobs:
* Team Start Points - just like it sounds, this is where players will start the job. Make sure there's the same amount of these as the number of players specified
* Capture Point - each team has one, set if for whatever spot you feel fits the team's "base"
* Capture Objects - the "flags" of Capture Jobs, this is what players will have to...well, capture.
GTA V Coming To PS4 And Xbox One This Year?
If any of these elements are missing, a red exclamation mark will let you know, so go back and check if one pops up.
There are three different types of modes for Capture Jobs: Contend, Hold, and Raid, and each will change the way your Job plays out, based on locations of objects, start points, etc.
* Contend - a free-for-all of sorts, where four teams all fight over Capture Objects, which will continuously respawn as teams get the object back to their "base" safely, so layout your points accordingly. A variety of Capture Objects exist for Contend, meaning they can be assigned different point values, and/or placed in hard to reach areas to keep the challenge level high.
* Hold - players have to snag an object from somewhere on the map, and bring it back safely. From there, the players have to then guard the item in question, all while the opposing team will try to steal it for themselves. Initial location of the Capture Objects is key her. Something as simple as placing an object inside an enemy base can change things dramatically. And that brings us to the next mode...
* Raid - the purest "capture the flag" mode that there is for GTA Online, in that all Capture Objects have to be placed in Capture Points. You can be a little more devious with where you place the Capture Object here - consider routes that can be taken to get to it, cover for fire, elevation, view, height, and overall accessibility.
WIth the basics taken care of, let's get into seasoning...
If you want to give your missions more of a real world feel, you'll want people, not some sparsely populated ghost town. A new feature of the Creator is to add in "Actors," stumbling, bumbling A.I. citizens to absorb bullets when your Job goes off. Putting them in is easy enough. Find your preferred category from "Placement," fiddle with the looks, skills, and other parameters, and you're good to go. Actors include everything from gang members to civilians and cops to military. They can even become part of the game, like placing an actor in a vehicle marked as as Capture Object.
The types and number of actors placed in any given job can have an outstanding effect, so fiddle around with all the settings and see what works best. Still, if it's a ghost town you prefer, you can use Zones to clear any ambient characters or vehicles from your selected map portions.
Once you'e fine tuned everything, Publishing it as easy as selecting the option in a Menu. Probably because that's what's required. That being said, get out there and see what you're capable of.
