The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details keep on coming ahead of the release window. The game will be out this summer on 3DS and most likely this winter on Wii U, and while I would have expected a simultaneous launch, it will still be a while before we see either title- I imagine a specific date is coming at E3 in June.
For now, we have to make do with what Nintendo gives us, which mostly consists of daily picture updates on the official website. The last major information dump came from a Nintendo Direct, which revealed several new characters and details. I wrote a roundup of what we know so far (particularly regarding the roster), and you can find yesterday's update here.
Today, Super Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai revealed another assist trophy, seen in the image above. Here's his official description, which he posted alongside the image on the Miiverse forums:
"Pic of the day. We didn't introduce ALL of the Assist Trophies in the Smash Bros. Direct. Here's Dillon from Dillon's Rolling Western!! He may rival Sonic in the art of rolling."
Another assist trophy announced, then, to go along with the variety of other characters who can help you out. Today has an added bonus in the comments, where Sakurai added a picture of the trophy item itself and another short explanation:
"Pic of the day. This is his trophy. He may be an animal, and his buckles are definitely on the adorable side, but there's no denying he looks cool!! His Assist Trophy can even do things like a quick charge."
Orne from yesterday may have been an assist trophy, but was referred to just as "an enemy". Like you can see here with Dillon, Sakurai is usually pretty explicit about what's an assist trophy--Orne is likely a single-player mode enemy. Stay tuned for more Smash Bros. updates, which will keep rolling in leading up to E3.
