'MLB 14 The Show PS4' Game Modes Detailed in New Video

Players have been enjoying MLB 14: The Show on PS3 and PS Vita for over a month now, with the PS4 version ready to launch in just one week. Sony have continued to show us parts of the superior PS4 edition over the last few weeks in the form of screenshots and trailers, and have now released another video that details several game modes.

The video below features a narrator explaining the features of various modes, mainly those that allow you some variation of control over your team during a franchise season. These different game types allow you to play MLB 14 The Show in your preferred style and at the pace you want, particularly when simming games.

One mode is called Player Lock which, when selected during a season, allows you to choose a particular player and automatically start as him in every match--it does not let you change players during a game.

A Manage Only mode allows you to see the games as they're simmed as opposed to staying on the menu, but you don't have any direct control over the plays. Instead, you can issue instructions to team style and individual players (such as giving a pitch type) to influence the match without actually playing.

Another mode is called Sportscast Manager, an "interactive simulator" that you can jump into at any time. This is an even more hands-off mode: it doesn't load the game up, but gives you a game cast menu in which you can give directions and commands. Check out the video below for the full descriptions and visual explanations of the new game modes.
