'DRIVECLUB' Release Date Revealed For October- Former PS4 Launch Title Finally On the Way [VIDEO]

Sony Announces DRIVECLUB Release Date

PS4 racing fans- wonder no more! Sony has finally revealed a release date of October 7, 2014 for DRIVECLUB via a new gameplay trailer. The game was initially planned to be a launch title for the next-gen system, free for PS Plus subscribers, but was delayed without explanation.

They haven't just been sitting on the game, though. The extra year of development time has allowed them to refine the experience, improving the graphics and AI. From the new trailer below DRIVECLUB certainly looks phenomenal, and shows off the social aspects of the game, with avatars popping up above player's cars. It encourages you to form and race with your own club, completeing challenges and races as a group.

But the development seemingly hasn't been easy. They have a new game director- have had one for a few months, actually.

"[W]e are also very pleased to announce that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky - better known as Rushy - has been at the helm of DRIVECLUB as Game Director," said SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida on the Playstation Blog. "We appreciate the announcement has come a little late, however we wanted to inform his appointment along with the new late announcement. His experience when it comes to delivering racing games is impeccable. Previously Game Director on critically acclaimed MotorStorm RC, he has been an integral contributor to all major titles coming out of Evolution Studios since 2004. With Rushy in the lead, we know DRIVECLUB will deliver on its initial promise to be a truly next gen racing title for our PS4 portfolio."

The announcement trailer is below- what do you think? Will DRIVECLUB be worth the long wait?
