Ubisoft seems to be pulling out all the stops to market "Assassin's Creed Shadows" as old titles in the franchise have massive discounts on Steam for a limited time.

Players on PC can get up to 85% savings on selected entries in the "Assassin's Creed" franchise ahead of the newest game. Ubisoft's strategy to put these classic titles on sale comes as the studio has been struggling with a variety of issues and commercial flops as of late.

Assassin's Creed Franchise Sale

The company suffered from the failure of "XDefiant" and "Star Wars Outlaws" that put a dent in Ubisoft's track record. Additionally, "Assassin's Creed Shadows" has already been delayed twice as it was originally planned to be released in November last year.

Now, Ubisoft has pushed back the launch of the latest entry in the stealth franchise to Mar. 20, 2025. It has explained that the delays were to let it work to make sure that "Assassin's Creed Shadows" comes out in the best possible state, according to PCGamesN.

All of the mainline "Assassin's Creed" games, with the exception of "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" on Steam, are on sale right now. The discounts for the titles range from 60% to 85%.

The most recent in the series is "Assassin's Creed Mirage," which was released in 2013 and focused on the franchise's stealthy origins. A lot of fans of the series consider it to be the best game in Ubisoft's lineup.

Massive Discounts

Another notable entry in the franchise that is on sale right now on Steam is "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag." The game is currently on sale for only $18, which is arguably one of its best offers in quite a while, IGN said.

On top of the individual sales, there is a mega bundle for the "Assassin's Creed" franchise that costs $209 and includes all of the games in the series. This will give players who have not had a chance to try the earlier titles an opportunity to experience the original games.

The sale comes as Ubisoft has been steadily giving players more information about "Assassin's Creed Shadows" ahead of the game's official release. One example is that the game would have fewer map icons to encourage player-driven exploration.

The studio said that the latest entry in the franchise makes some "major changes and additions" to exploration in order to foster a "unique sense of discovery." Ubisoft explained that the goal of this was to move away from an overabundance of "hand-holding" map icons and markets and into an open world, according to Eurogamer.
