Blizzard's upcoming Season of Witchcraft for "Diablo IV" is coming on Jan. 21, 2025, and will introduce new mechanics that will disappear when the season ends.
While it is actually vampire season, "Diablo IV" is bringing the next best thing: witches. Blizzard is letting players tap into their own eldritch energies to wield unique and destructive powers, such as summoning a giant frog or a swarm of burning bats.
Diablo IV Season of Witches
When the new season arrives, the action RPG will look vastly different from how it does now. A ton of new powers are being introduced to shake up the gameplay experience, and some even delight fans of "Diablo III."
It seems like the studio is intentionally bending the classic hack-and-slash style of "Diablo IV" on top of introducing a new permanent feature to the game. The campaign introduces players to a massive, ominous-looking tree known as the Tree of Whispers, according to Polygon.

The Tree of Whispers offers unspeakable knowledge to people in exchange for their heads after they eventually die. In the upcoming season, the tree seeks players' help as it is losing heads and wants to get them back.
Your seasonal character will be able to join the coven of witches that seek to protect the Tree of Whispers and hunt down the new Headrotten creatures. There will also be a new season quest that will guide players through the details of the update.
Brand New Witchcraft Powers
Many of the new powers that are being added in the Season of Witches for "Diablo IV" were inspired and taken from "Diablo III's" Witch Doctor class. The powers are broken down into three subcategories: Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay, Games Radar said.
While any class in "Diablo IV" can use these Witchcraft powers, many players are more fond of using the classic Necromancer and role-playing the class as a Witch Doctor. Players are able to unlock new powers by defeating Headrotten enemies and completing the new Whisper bounties.
The latter will let you earn seasonal Reputation at The Coven, which you can then use to unlock your inner Witch Doctor via one of the Witches' Altars. There are a total of 25 new Witchcraft Powers that you can unlock in the newest season of "Diablo IV."
The Spiritborn class was added to the action RPG in October 2024 with the Vessel of Hatred DLC. The fact that the powers come from the Witch Doctor class from "Diablo III" has fans reeling that Blizzard could soon add it to "Diablo IV's" official roster, according to Game Spot.
