A new trailer for "Castlevania: Nocturne" Season 2 shows off more of the series and also gives fans a final release date.

The Netflix series is the platform's animated take on the classic franchise that was originally released in 2023. Fans now know the release date of the show's long-promised second season, which is Jan. 16, 2025.

New Castlevania: Nocturne Trailer

The show's story follows the adventures of Maria Renard and Richter Belmont, who is a distant descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belndaes. The latter two both featured heavily in the original "Castlevania" adaptation on Netflix.

"Castlevania: Nocturne" showcases vampiric action that plays out against the backdrop of the French Revolution, circa 1792. The first season of the Netflix series was well-received when it came out in September 2023.

The eight-episode season ended with the arrival of a familiar face in the franchise that left fans wanting more. It has been a long wait for people with the second season, which was confirmed shortly after the airing of Season 1, according to Eurogamer.

Similar to the first season, the upcoming release will include eight episodes and bring back Powerhouse on animation work. Showrunner Clive Bradley and directors Sam and Adam Deats are also making a return for the second season.

Second Season

The newest trailer for "Castlevania: Nocturne" Season 2 showcases Erzsebet Bathory, who is now referred to as The Vampire Messiah. She has unleashed a war on Paris that will most likely spread throughout the world.

Richter and his Vampire Killer whip failed to fight on par with Erzsebet after she absorbed Sekhmet's powers to become a god-like figure. The latest trailer also showed the group fighting against The Vampire Messiah, Kotaku said.

The footage also showed vampires snapping the necks of Parisian soldiers while Erzsebet presides over her army of demons and vampires as they stormed the city. Fortunately, fans later see Richter taking on Erzsebet to land some devastating blows.

Fans know that the best way to take down The Vampire Messiah is to stop her from reaching her full potential. Co-showrunner Kevin Kolde said that Alucard would lead Richter and Annette to Paris in order to find the last element that Erzsebet needs to achieve her full power.

The "Castlevania: Nocturne" Netflix series is a sequel to the original anime that premiered on the platform in 2017. The first series had four seasons totaling 32 episodes that were also animated by Powerhouse, according to CBR.
