The developer of "InZoi," KRAFTON, is partnering with Nvidia to use the latter's new artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create autonomous life sim NPCs.

The upcoming life simulator by the PUBG creator is set to come out in early access on Steam in March 2025. KRAFTON still has a lot of features that it wants to add to "InZoi" despite the short time between now and the early access release.

Smart NPCs in InZoi

The developer announced during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 this week that it has a partnership with Nvidia. This was to use the latter's "Co-Playable Character" AI tech to provide the NPCs for "InZoi."

These are called "Smart Zois," and they are said to be capable of adapting and responding to the world according to their distinct personalities. Nvidia had a demo video on the Smart Zoi system that walked the audience through the day of a character with a "considerate" personality, according to PCGamer.

The footage showed how this particular NPC could independently decide to help someone who got lost with directions or give some food to a hungry stranger. At the end of the day, the Zoi that were shown off adjust their own daily schedule of activities based on their experiences that day.

The situation comes as some players think that the idea of NPCs who actually do something with their lives is a little bit exciting. Game director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim also shared some of his own thoughts regarding the new AI tech.

A More Engaging Life Sim

He noted that CES 2025 was a significant milestone for KRAFTON as it marked the beginning of working with Nvidia on new AI technology. Kim added that this tech would revolutionize the gaming industry forever, DSO Gaming.

Kim added that they will closely collaborate with Nvidia to drive the transformation of the user experience with AI-powered innovation built with Nvidia ACE. Nvidia's vice president of developer relations, Keita Iida, said that AI is already transforming the way games are created and played.

The use of Nvidia's new AI tech on "InZoi" is even more notable as KRAFTON's upcoming life sim is already one of the 10 most wishlisted games on Steam. This means that there is a large market to advance the technology and reach a wider audience.

"InZoi" will let players alter any aspect of their game world to create unique stories and experiences for themselves and their friends to enjoy. The game was developed on Unreal Engine 5 and features realistic graphics that have many fans excited, according to Nvidia.
