Nintendo just announced that F-Zero 99 is getting the 1.5.5 update that adds tons of new content and introduces a slew of adjustments and improvements.

The holiday season is also bringing in another limited-time event to F-Zero 99 that lets players race on ice-covered tracks in the Frozen Tour. The newest event in the game will run until Jan. 19, 2025.

During the availability of the Frozen Tour event, players who match at least one Lucky Rank can get 500 Gem Sparks as a reward. While other tracks will be covered in snow, Classic Tracks and Secret Tracks will not be affected.

Furthermore, Grand Prix events for the Knight League and others will still be held using normal tracks amid the Frozen Tour event. Another thing to note is that Frozen tracks will not appear in Private Lobbies, according to Nintendo Life.

A Chilling New Event

There is also a new special event known as the Frozen World Tour, where players can compete with others for rank in nine consecutive races. Each race will have three laps, and rules are based on a scoring system where rankings are determined by players' total points for each lap.

The more players that are in the lobby during the Frozen World Tour, the more potential points they can earn during the race. Nintendo also added a high-score rankings tab for the Frozen World Tour to the weekly leaderboard to let players check out who is ahead.

If a player is ranked in 999th place or above in the Frozen World Tour, they will receive a special badge. This particular badge can only be obtained once during the period that the event is live, My Nintendo News said.

The latest update comes as the previous 1.5.0 patch added an Anniversary Event, as well as Satellaview Ace League Grand Prix, tracks. The anniversary event featured a total of 12 badges, backdrops, borders, and emotes.

Players who were able to match at least one Lucky Rank during the event were eligible to receive one of the one-year anniversary rewards that Nintendo prepared. Those who are able to collect all 12 will unlock a bonus decal for each machine, according to Shack News.
