Developer Saber Interactive just revealed Turok: Origins, which brings a co-op dinosaur-hunting experience to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in the future.

The upcoming game reimagines the story of three native huntsfolk who are fighting against large, dangerous lizards. The main difference in Turok: Origins is that it will feature a third-person perspective and allow players to enter online co-op teams.

It was also revealed that players can absorb their fallen foes' DNA in order to upgrade their characters and make them stronger. The announcement trailer for the game was shared at The Game Awards 2024 and showed fans a bit of in-game footage.

The trailer showed a lot of melee fighting but also showcased some long-range attacks that players will have access to. The developers are promising things like plasma rifles, ray guns, sniper bows, and many more.

The DNA powers that you get from slain enemies will supplement your combat, including one ability that seems to let you freeze time. The trailer did not provide any information regarding the story of Turok: Origins, which could be revealed at a later date, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

What was revealed is that players will be able to explore a variety of beautiful locations in the game, such as ancient temples, wastelands, and dense jungles. This is not the first time that the Turok franchise has been revived.

A Third-Person Dinosaur-Hunting Adventure

There was a reboot known simply as Turok that was released in 2008 and received mixed reviews. It was able to sell enough copies to justify developers working on a sequel. However, the latter was canceled and forced Propaganda Games to cut 70 job positions.

Game director Jesus Iglesias also talked about Turok: Origins by answering some questions that fans had about the upcoming game. The decision for a third-person view was made because the developers wanted to explore a different direction, the PlayStation Blog said.

Turok: Origins is said to fit seamlessly into the franchise's universe as the legendary Turok Warriors work together to fight against a dangerous alien species. Players will discover ancient mysteries that tie into the Order of the Turok and its history as they progress through the game.

The classic dinosaur-hunting franchise began with the first game that was released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64 and PC. The latest game in the series has highly advanced biomorphic suits that give your character the ability to take advantage of slain enemies' DNA, according to IGN.
