There are a lot of things that players can do in Manor Lords, including managing their own society, gathering various resources, and claiming other regions to expand their Influence.

The latter is a more militaristic approach to the game and is considered by some to be much more exciting than other features. The game's map has various regions that each have a unique layout with varying levels of key resource nodes, fertile soil, and even bandit presence.

Over time, you will eventually exhaust the space and resources of each zone, and you will have to think about taking new ones. This means that you will eventually encroach on the entire map and build a massive kingdom.

This guide helps players understand the basics of claiming new regions and how they can take advantage of a bigger area to work with.

How To Claim a Region

In Manor Lords, you can claim a new region by opening the map and looking at your surroundings. It is highly recommended to focus on adjacent areas to keep your forces together, according to IGN.

When you find a region you want, select it, and you will see options at the bottom of the HUD that lets you claim it with Influence or use King's Favor. The former requires 1,000 Influence, and the latter is free.

Influence can be acquired by defeating bandit camps that are found scattered throughout the map. You can also get Influence by increasing your settlement level, enacting new policies in your town, and upgrading government buildings.

When you choose how to claim a region, it will take a full month of in-game time to complete the process. After this is done, you will most likely want to construct a Settler's Camp and then choose a village type.

How to Claim Regions From Enemies

If there is a particular region that you want to claim, but it is controlled by a different kingdom, you will still follow the same process.

The main difference is that you will have to go to war and win. Another difference is that claiming a region under control by a different leader costs 2,000 Influence, Sports Illustrated said.

How to Settle Regions

When you select a village type for a particular region that you just claimed, you need to use Treasure, which is a different resource from Influence. You can get this by looting bandit camps and taking the spoils for yourself or collecting taxes from your people.

You can adjust the tax rate if your needs suddenly change. Be wary, though, as having high taxes could lower your approval rating and decrease Regional Wealth. This, in turn, will slow down population growth for your kingdom.

Other Things To Know

Whenever you claim a region and are waiting for the timer to complete, other lords can attempt to contest ownership of that area. This will lead to a battle that will decide the rightful owner of the land in question.

You can do the same as when a rival lord claims a region; you can contest it and go to war with them to see who takes control of the land. This is particularly useful because you will not have to spend any Influence to claim this region, according to Game Rant.
