The world within Stardew Valley is quite vast and is filled with a ton of content that players can engage with to enjoy their playthrough.

One particular area that was added in the game's 1.5 update is the tropical paradise of Ginger Island. This region is part of the game's Fern Islands and was only previously referenced in the game's dialogue before being added to the game itself.

This guide will help players understand how they can actually unlock Ginger Island, how they can get there, and some of the things they can do on the island itself.

How To Unlock Ginger Island

If you want to get to this new area and gain access to whatever it has in store, you first need to complete several crucial tasks. The main thing here is that you need to have access to Stardew Valley's post-game content, according to CBR.

This means you have to either complete every single bundle related to the Community Center, buy a JojaMart membership card, or get all upgrades in the warehouse that replaces the Community Center.

You will get an invitation from Willy to visit the back room of his shop on the docks after you complete any of these tasks, which typically take around two in-game years. Talking to Willy will help you discover an old, secret dock that has a rundownboat to take you to Ginger Island.

Fixing the Boat

Players will need a variety of materials in order to completely fix the boat that they need to travel to Ginger Island. These are five pieces of Battery Packs, five pieces of Iridium Bars, and 200 pieces of Hardwood, Siliconera said.

It is relatively easy to get Hardwood from a variety of trees, such as Mahogany Trees and large stumps using a Steel Axe. To get Iridium Bars, you need to gather Iridium Ore and bring them alongside some Coal to a Furnace.

The Battery Packs are arguably the most complicated to get as you need to use a Lightning Rod or Solar Panel to collect enough electricity. When you get all of these materials, you can go back to the boat and fix it.

What Can I Do on Ginger Island

After you use the boat to get to Ginger Island, you can finally take part in the variety of content that the area has to offer. There are some new NPCs to befriend with and many unlocks and repairs to work on.

One of these is Leo, who you can only talk to after you become friends with the parrots on the island. Another useful thing about these flying creatures is that you can give them gold, and they will tell you the location of Golden Walnuts, according to Game Spot.
