Those who waited patiently for the release of Dark Souls 2 on PC have finally been rewarded. The grueling RPG is now out on the platform worldwide and Bandai Namco have released a launch trailer to celebrate.
The title has been available on Xbox 360 and PS3 since March 11, forcing those who wanted the game on PC to wait for over a month. From Software's own admission is that PC would be the best platform for Dark Souls 2, and it's not hard to see that it looks better than the console version.
Extra care has been put into the PC port this time around after a definitively lackluster port of Dark Souls in 2012. It can run at 60fps and 108p resolution, so long as your PC can handle it. The Dark Souls port offered very limited resolution options and ran at a disappointing framerate.
A fan created an unofficial graphics patch to improve Dark Souls, which made it much more playable. The same modder, Durante, is back with a new graphics mod for Dark Souls 2. The game does not have functionality issues that need fixing like its predecessor, but Durante felt the graphics could use enhancement.
The new download includes texture modding, ambient occlusion, anti-aliasing, depth of field, and post-processing effects. It's in alpha stage right now, and is actually a set of tools that can be used across multiple games to improve graphics--it's not just a Dark Souls 2 mod.
