One of the more comical tank heroes in Overwatch 2 is the adorable-looking Wrecking Ball who can pulverize you if you underestimate him.

Wrecking Ball is currently struggling to find a place in the meta due to other tank heroes being superior to him in various aspects. But going against this massive monstrosity and underestimating him is a recipe for disaster.

This guide focuses on providing some tips and tricks on how to play Wrecking Ball as a tank hero to benefit your team. These will help you learn and master this character's abilities, ultimate, and playstyle.

Wrecking Ball's Abilities

The first thing to know about this hero is his primary weapon, which is known as Quad Cannons. You can only use this if you are NOT in Roll mode. Quad Cannons don't deal a lot of damage but its fast fire rate makes this a dangerous ability up close, according to Game Rant.

This character's first active ability is Roll, which transforms him into a massive rolling ball that you can control with a third-person perspective. While this ability is active, you have increased movement speed over time and it will not slow down even if you change directions.

The next ability is the Grappling Claw, which lets Wrecking Ball attach himself to a vertical surface and then swing to accelerate or jet into the air. Going faster than 15 meters a second lights you on fire and allows you to deal up to 50 damage to an enemy hero if you make contact. This will also knock them back.

Next up is Adaptive Shield, which when activated will give Wrecking Ball additional health to tank more damage from enemy heroes. If there are more enemy heroes near you, then this ability will grant you even more health, Game Spot said.

Your last non-ultimate ability is Piledriver, which has Wrecking Ball slam into the ground below to cause damage to nearby enemies. This will also send enemy heroes that have been hit up into the air for a brief moment.

Ultimate Ability

Wrecking Ball's ultimate ability is known as Minefield and will send out 15 explosive proximity mines in two concentric circles around the character's current position. If you activate your ultimate while you are in the air, the mines will be spread over a larger area.

The mines take 1.5 seconds to arm and will then explode when an enemy hero comes within 1.5 meters of it and deals up to 130 damage. This is a very useful ultimate to use when used in choke points or areas where a lot of enemy heroes are grouped up.

Other Tips

If you opt to choose Wrecking Ball as your tank hero, then you need to commit to being an aggressive meat shield for your team. You should also be getting up close and personal with enemy heroes so that your Quad Cannons deal the most damage.

The main issue with Wrecking Ball's playstyle is that he is almost always taking damage from enemy heroes. This means that you will need considerably more support in order to stay alive for longer.

You can take advantage of Adaptive Shield to gain more health when you have a lot of enemy heroes nearby. You should focus on taking down one enemy at a time starting with the ones with the lowest health, according to Screen Rant.
