Developer Deck Nine is bringing Life is Strange: Double Exposure to the Nintendo Switch starting on Nov. 19, 2024.

The narrative-based game will be coming to Nintendo's handheld console in digital format first before the physical version that is set to arrive on Jan. 28, 2025. The latter is now available for pre-orders for fans who want to get their copies early.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure on Switch

The announcement of the release date of the game on the Nintendo Switch came with a new animated trailer. Life is Strange: Double Exposure originally launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S last month.

This particular version of the game was created by Engine Software in association with Deck Nine. The latest game is a direct sequel to the first title in the franchise. It continues the story that focuses on Max Caulfield.

However, the new developers have been under widespread criticism for their version of the in-game lore. Some fans have argued that the consequences of the original game's final choice are not appropriate, according to Eurogamer.

The original studio that was responsible for the first two games in the series was Don't Nod, which also acknowledged that Deck Nine could do what it wanted with the story. The latter's creative director, Michel Koch, hit back at hateful comments that were targeted at Deck Nine.

He said that he had not yet played the latest game in the franchise and had no idea how the new developers were handling the story. Koch argued that nothing justified hating on people because of how they wrote their game.

A Mysterious Story

The trailer that was released alongside the news of the game's Nintendo Switch release re-introduces players to Max. It also sets up the spooky happenings that she will encounter in the latest game in the franchise, Nintendo Life said.

In the new game, Max has access to a whole new set of powers that let her shift through time. She will have to solve the mystery of her friend's death across different dimensions. Switch users can finally get a chance to dive into the world of Life is Strange: Double Exposure soon.

The game's story really begins after Max tries to use her powers to rewind time, which she has not done for several years. She then mistakenly goes to a parallel timeline where her friend Safi is still alive.

The pre-orders for the physical edition of the game on Nintendo Switch also come with a SteelBook bonus at select retailers. The full game in this version comes inside a 16GB game cartridge, according to Gematsu.
