Ubisoft is finally adding a cross-play feature for Rainbow Six Siege. It would allow console and PC users to play together. The feature comes nearly a decade since the game's original release.
The upcoming feature will be added to the game this December along with the launch of the game's Year 9 Season 4 update. The patch is known as Operation Collision Point and will let players match with friends no matter what platform they are playing on.
Rainbow Six Siege Cross-Play
One caveat with the upcoming crossplay feature is that if your team has at least one PC player, then you will all be in the PC matchmaking pool. Ubisoft originally enabled cross-play and cross-progression for Rainbow Six Siege's PC version in June 2021.
It was then later enabled between Xbox and PlayStation consoles in 2022, which is when cross-progression was enabled across all platforms. The developer said that the upcoming season includes Mousetrap Penalty adjustments to account for the new crossplay feature, according to the Video Games Chronicle.
The advancement in Player Protection this upcoming season means that the match will automatically be canceled if a cheater is detected. Ubisoft added that there is also an overhaul for the Reputation center along with AI text moderation.

The new season will also include the introduction of a special new variant of the ballistic shield that was designed for Blackbeard. It would also implement various balancing updates for Ying and Sens and a series of other features.
Rainbow Six Siege remains one of the top competitive multiplayer games across PC and console despite approaching its 10-year anniversary. It has maintained its spot in Steam's top 100 most-played games, IGN said.
A New Feature
This means that the game is a reliable source of success for Ubisoft, which has recently been struggling to put out titles that perform well. This is following the criticism of Star Wars: Outlaws and XDefiant.
Ubisoft explained that the new cross-play feature will let console players who play Ranked playlists have two separate ranks. One for their main console rank and one for their PC rank.
UX designer Abhishek Agarwal also talked a little bit about the MouseTrap V2 that will be coming as part of the new update. Creative director Alexander Karpazis said that it would allow detection if a console player was using a mouse and keyboard against solely console players.
If this is the case, then the system will force the console user who is using a mouse and keyboard to be in the PC pool for matchmaking, according to Insider Gaming.
