Sega announced plans to delist more than 60 games from digital storefronts in December 2024, much to the dismay of players worldwide.

The exact time that the games in question will be delisted is Dec. 6, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Valve's Steam will be the platform that will be affected the most by the development, with 62 games being removed from the availability.

Sega To Delist Games From Digital Storefronts

These titles include Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio along with many other popular games. Sega is also delisting 12 titles from the Xbox Store as well as several titles on the Nintendo eShop and the PlayStation Store.

The latter two are said to only be losing SEGA Genesis Classics, which itself includes more than 50 iconic and retro Genesis titles. Sega's support page now includes all of the games that will be delisted by the end of the year.

Any games that players have already purchased will still be available for download and play even after the titles themselves have been delisted from digital storefronts. This means that people should buy the games they're interested in before Dec. 6, 2024, according to The Verge.

The decision to remove the games from digital storefronts comes as the company is working on reboots for various franchises. These include Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. However, these are not expected to be finished anytime soon.

Re-release of Various Franchises

This is also not the first time that Sega has delisted games ahead of plans to release them in a different form. Previously, the company pulled the vast majority of classic Sonic games from digital storefronts before the launch of Sonic Origins.

Other titles on the Xbox Store that will be delisted in December 2024 are Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Monster World, and Shinobi. The news comes as an announcement earlier this week revealed that work is being done on a new Virtua Fighter entry, Pure Xbox said.

The news was shared by Sega Global Transmedia Group's Justin Scarpone during a recent interview. He casually mentioned that Virtua Fighter was among the franchises that Sega is looking to bring back to the forefront of the video game industry.

Scarpone said that the efforts the company is making is all very exciting and they are also looking into work on on animation series or live-action films. These would be designed to augment the release of remastered games and new entries, according to Gematsu.
