There are a ton of different useful items in Dave the Diver. But weapons are probably one of the most important as they help you fight off various enemies.

The game has a lot of weapons to choose from. This can sometimes make it challenging to figure out which ones you should be using. What makes this even more complicated is that weapons can be upgraded to become more powerful.

This guide helps players understand the basics of upgrading their weapons. It also gives out some recommendations on which weapons you should use as they become a lot more powerful when upgraded.

Upgrading Weapons

In order to start upgrading your weapons in Dave the Diver, you need to first reach Chapter 2. This is when Duff will contact you about getting some materials to upgrade your weapons. After you finish this part, you can visit Duff's shop through your phone to start making your weapons stronger, according to IGN.

The majority of weapons in Dave the Diver have a linear upgrade path, which means there is only one path you can choose. Upgrading these weapons gives you a stronger effect and more ammo to use.

On the other hand, other weapons have variety in their upgrading mechanics that allow you to choose from options such as Poison and Shock. The materials that you need for each upgrade can be seen in Duff's shop.

You typically require Gold, Fragments, the base weapon, and a unique special material for that particular upgrade. One thing to note is that upgrading your weapons is permanent and you cannot roll them back if you change your mind later on.

Recommended Weapon Upgrades

You should be somewhat careful about which weapons you upgrade because materials are not easy to come by. One of the more recommended weapons to upgrade is the Large Net Gun. This weapon is very useful in the early game and its upgrades just make it even better, PCGamer said.

But if you are in the later stages of the game and have acquired a lot more materials that you know what to do with, you can choose to upgrade more of your arsenal. There are some particularly powerful weapons that are a menace when upgraded.

One example is the Basic Underwater Rifle which is already very useful in its base form. You can upgrade this weapon up to level 5 and make it deal more than four times its original damage.

Arguably the strongest weapon in the game is the Red Sniper Rifle. This item becomes even more destructive when upgraded. You can turn this weapon into the Death Sniper Rifle which has 92 damage with a range of 20, according to Game Rant.
