Developer Colossal Order released a new update for Cities: Skylines 2 after having a tough time facing criticisms from players.

The latest patch includes a variety of changes and fixes, including addressing homelessness and pollution issues in the game. The update will generally lead to more air pollution being generated as it spreads slightly more and will dissipate much more slowly.

The developer also addresses various issues related to road-based noise pollution. Colossal Order also rebalanced road noise generation in order to account for the latest fix that came with the update.

This means that overall, non-highway roads are expected to produce a similar level of noise pollution as before. On the other hand, highways will produce slightly more noise pollution compared to the past.

The latest Cities: Skylines 2 update also fixes vehicle pollution only being visible above roundabouts as well as map borders. With the other major part of the patch, homeless citizens will now be freed from "waiting endlessly for public transport at the International Airport," according to PCGamer.

The update also now no longer places players' tents in their parks after previously homeless occupants have left them. The developers also gave some attention to tourism mechanics with the latest Cities: Skylines 2 update.

Various fixes include hotels that refuse to spawn inside commercial zones as well as tourists loitering forever inside buildings even though they should be out and about. With regard to gameplay improvements, the patch will make the fire spread much more easily between buildings.

A Ton of Changes

One of the major changes in the latest update is pathfinding. The patch increases the preference of buses and trams to use straight roads instead of other routes to cut down travel times, PCGamesN said.

Players also complained that some NPCs parked their cars in dedicated motorcycle lots which added to congestion. This is another issue that has been fixed with the latest update to the game.

Prior to the patch, some players praised a mod known as "Bye Bye Homeless" that fixed the issue by deleting homeless people from the game altogether. This was something that was done if they were unable to find housing after 1.5 hours of in-game time.

The mod also allowed players to configure the eviction period and method, which is choosing to either let them move out or delete them. Many people have said that this mod fixed the bug where their games were being flooded by homeless NPCs, according to 404Media.
