Blizzard's social media account for X sparked backlash within the Overwatch 2 community following a skin reveal post for Yatagarasu Kiriko.

The issue comes with the fact that the studio's social media handler talked about the character's "grippers," which was a reference to her bare feet. Many online users quickly did a double take with some even questioning the legitimacy of the account being Blizzard's.

Blizzard Sparks Overwatch Community Backlash

One user said that they initially thought that the post was made by a parody Blizzard account. But when they got a closer look, it was revealed that it was the official handler for the video game studio.

Many of the replies to the original post were negative, with one user saying that it was the "worst Overwatch post ever." On the other hand, Twitch streamer Warn commented, "Bro, you are on main???"

What makes the situation somewhat worse is that this is not actually the first time that the Blizzard X account did something that irked the Overwatch community. The other moment was when it replied to a fan art of a kitten Ramattra, saying, "purrs and rubs against your leg," according to PCGamer.

A lot of jokes that involve the feet of heroes from Overwatch 2 have been spreading online for years now. It all began after Sigma was released and how people made fun of him floating around barefooted.

Many players in the community found it funny to diss the tank hero's feet, making it a recurring joke. Since then, people would meme whenever an Overwatch hero goes barefooted in any shape or form.

Yatagarasu Kiriko's Feet

Another user called out Blizzard for being "weird" and dozens of others told the social media account to delete the post immediately. One particular user gave a seemingly plausible explanation for the post. This is because the post was made late at night to capitalize on the down-bad market, The Gamer.

This is even supported by looking at Google for "Kiriko feet" which shows a lot of discussions on the terms on Reddit and the Blizzard forums. While this does somewhat explain Blizzard's post, it does not really ease people's reactions.

Other people also made some lighthearted jokes about the post, with one user saying, "When is the armpit emote coming out? Heard rumors of that soon..." Another person said that the post showed some very "sus behavior" from Blizzard trying to get some social media engagement, according to Ginx.
