Wayfinder is set to come out of its early access version on Oct. 21, 2024, and it feels like a brand new game with how developer Airship Syndicate has reworked the MMORPG.

The game originally launched on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 earlier this year. While the MMORPG showed a lot of promise, it failed to hit it big and struggled to attract new players amid a competitive market.

Wayfinder's Full Release

Airship Syndicate has put in the effort to support its game and announced that its early access period is coming to an end. The developer has basically reworked the MMORPG and turned it into a brand-new game.

Wayfinder is no longer an MMO and the studio removed all microtransactions. It is now going all-in on being an action RPG that features a co-op system. You can still go through the game's campaign by yourself and adjust your experience with the customizable difficulty settings, according to Push Square.

The press release noted that Wayfinder was originally designed to be an online-only gaming experience. However, the game underwent a complete transformation to become a fully-fledged, co-op ARPG.

Airship Syndicate released several updates to introduce brand-new zones, characters, and other content for the game. These were all reportedly fueled by feedback from the community during the game's early access period.

When Wayfinder was initially released, it settled on a Mixed review rating on Steam and other platforms. Fortunately, the more recent comments about the game were relatively positive primarily thanks to Airship Syndicate's constant updates.

A Reworked Game

The reworked game now features a full campaign as well as so-called "Lost Zones" that were carried over from the original version. These are solo or group dungeons that feature randomized layouts and rewards, God is a Geek said.

These dungeons will have rare mini-bosses and hidden secrets that require players to complete difficult challenges to obtain. They also have grappling hooks to make it easier for you to move around and finish patrol missions.

The full release of Wayfinder will introduce The Crucible. This is a new open-world zone that features quests and various other content. This new feature promises to be a challenge for players to overcome.

The game will also have new upgrade systems, such as Talent trees and Wayfinder Ranks. There is also an overhauled Echoes (mods) system. Wayfinder now moves to randomized weapon drops and will have a new armor system, according to Bleeding Cool.
