Destiny 2's Episode Revenant is finally out but fans of Bungie's first-person shooter are not taking kindly to the latest release.
The new content introduces a new alteration to its storytelling and will not have three Acts. All of the lore will be given to players on week one for a particular Act. This means that three weeks will be condensed into one day.

The game will then effectively go on a six-week break until Bungie decides to do it all over again. This is the system that many Destiny 2 players requested from the studio. It is also what many expected to get when the Episode/Act model originally debuted.
Some players expressed their concern for the new model as the entirety of the weekly, condensed story content of the first Act took around an hour and a half.
This included one short opening mission, one run of the new Scorn Onslaught, busywork quests, roughly 12 conversations, and one final quest on a Gambit map, according to Forbes.
There is actually a reason why it feels even shorter than usual, which is because a lot of the repetition was stripped out of the content. By old standards, Onslaught would have required players to run the mode once a week in order to progress the storyline.

While the new model is in some ways good as it removes some of the filler from the weekly seasonal content. However, it also brings a bad situation because players now get the entirety of the story that was supposed to last roughly six weeks in just a single day.
Destiny 2's Episode Revenant came out on Oct. 8, 2024, and opened with the game's lowest day-one peak player numbers on Steam. The new episode marks the second in the year of The Final Shape, The Game Post said.
A Generally Disappointing Release
The episode's new storyline focuses on the return of Fikrul, who is the leader of the Scorn. It also adds new exotics and activities for players to try out. Despite the hype for the new content, the release did not translate into bringing players back into Bungie's first-person shooter.
While the new release is generally disappointing, it still has a lot of new features outside of the main story for players to enjoy. Onslaught has been expanded with new maps, enemies, and rewards.
The new episode also removes content time gating as all of the missions will be immediately available to players. Bungie's changes to Destiny 2 will start in the summer of 2025 with Codename Frontiers, according to MMORPG.
