Developer Creative Assembly announced that it is working on Alien: Isolation 2. The studio is also bringing back the original director.

The news comes as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the original Alien: Isolation game. Creative director Al Hope said that they have heard fans' distress calls "loud and clear." He was ecstatic to confirm that the sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development.

Alien: Isolation Sequel in Development

The original game was released in 2014. It has since become a highly popular horror game among fans and critics. People praised it as one of the best video game adaptations from the Alien franchise.

Amanda Ripley is the protagonist of Alien: Isolation. She is the daughter of Ellen Ripley. The events she is investigating happened more than a decade ago. The story comes after the events of the first movie in the series, according to The Verge.

There is one key reason why the video game became so successful. This is because it taps into the anxiety of fear. Alien: Isolation tasks players with completing Amanda's objectives while trying to be as stealthy as possible. This is instead of letting you confront the xenomorphs directly.

In recent years, the Alien franchise has become more and more prominent and the latest film, Alien: Romulus, was called a decent return for the series. It comes after wild creative swings that were seen in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

Hope said in a social media post that when the team started working on Alien: Isolation, they had one guiding principle. This was because they wanted to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise, Insider Gaming said.

Welcome News to Fans

The creative director said that it was nothing short of incredible for him to witness fans' passion for the game over the years. He was also glad that Alien: Isolation was able to reach so many players worldwide.

Despite the announcement, Creative Assembly did not provide any target release window for Alien: Isolation 2. No information was given on what platforms the sequel will be released on.

Fans of the franchise and the original Alien: Isolation game are clearly happy with the confirmation of the sequel.

Many people had already called on the studio and owner SEGA to greenlight a sequel ever since the first title came out.

The existence of the Alien: Isolation sequel does come as a bit of a surprise as the original game only sold one million copies within three months.

It then went on to sell 2.11 million units after six months. This was not enough for SEGA to consider it a commercial success, according to IGN.
