Dead Cells developer Motion Twin is releasing its next action-roguelike game Windblown in early access on Oct. 24, 2024.

The news was announced on social media where the studio also confirmed that starting from Oct. 14, 2024, players can try the game out. Motion Twin added that anyone who participates in the Windblown demo will receive an exclusive Guinea Pig skin.

Windblown Early Access

It noted that this reward is a "fitting appearance for all of those willing to help us develop Windblown in its early access journey." The studio also shared a 15-minute look a few weeks ago showing off the title's gameplay.

Windblown is marketed as the follow-up to Motion Twin's critically acclaimed action-platformer Dead Cells. The short video took fans through the upcoming game's basics and offered a mostly spoiler-free insight into what players can expect, according to Eurogamer.

The latest teaser into the studio's new game was not as long as the previous footage but does show some more action. Motion Twin also said that Windblown offers lightning-fast combat and a co-op system of up to three players.

The studio noted that it is currently hosting its very own publisher event, La Motion, which includes various updates about its upcoming rogue-lite board game. More information about this particular event can be found on Steam.

Windblown features familiar gameplay for those who played Dead Cells but instead of a side-scrolling perspective, it has a 3D world that is more colorful. The new title seems to be building up on its predecessor's success to offer exciting experiences for players, Rock Paper Shotgun said.

Following in Dead Cells' Footsteps

The upcoming action-roguelike's early access will give players access to five biomes and 12 main weapons. Motion Twin plans to put out consistent updates with additional biomes, levels, new weapons, and more throughout the period.

The story of the game focuses on innocent souls who have lived peacefully in The Ark. This is a floating village that orbits around the gigantic and deadly Vortex. Countless warriors known as the Leapers have lost their lives in their fight against the dreadful emissaries of the Vortex.

Windblown now tasks players with the same mission so that they can save their people. In this game, Leapers are able to absorb the memories of the fallen warriors who came before them. This lets them master the fighting styles of their predecessors to unleash their full potential.

You will also be able to swap between multiple weapons and adapt to different situations by changing your build on the fly. You will be able to collect stronger and more complex weapons as you unlock more memories, according to Gematsu.
