Behaviour Interactive announced that the PvE spin-off of Dead by Daylight, Project T, has been canceled due to "unsatisfactory" player testing.

The game was initially revealed in May 2024. It is a co-op PvE shooter that up to four players can play. You will step into the role of "Trespassers," which is a fierce group of characters who are trapped inside a vast, unexplored region of The Entity's Realm called The Backwater.

Project T Canceled

Project T was said to be in early development by Midwinter Entertainment, which Behaviour Interactive acquired in 2022. The latter released a statement saying that they wanted to have players involved with Project T as early as possible.

The studio said that the approach allowed them to get very early indications of the project's core design and gameplay. This is something that they usually get much further along into the production of a particular game, according to the VideoGamesChronicle.

Behaviour Interactive said that they conducted a playtest in July and then ran a thorough internal risk assessment. This was done from a product and commercial perspective. The studio added that a number of players expressed appreciation but the outcome had unsatisfactory overall results.

Project T was recently accessible via Steam and through Behaviour Interactive's new Insider Program. The game was set within the Dead by Daylight universe but it drew more comparison to the Left 4 Dead series.

The game had a "First Look" trailer that showed a glimpse of what players could expect from the Dead by Daylight spin-off. Some people lamented the fact that Project T was only ever in a technical playtest state, which was restricted, said ComicBook.

Dead by Daylight Spin-Offs

The studio previously pursued other spin-offs of its highly popular survival horror game. The latest among these is The Casting of Frank Stone. This was developed by Supermassive Entertainment.

Other spin-off titles include Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim and What the Fog. The studio's other non-Dead by Daylight projects include Meet Your Maker. However, the latter's developer has already shifted its attention to new projects as of March 2024.

The news of Project T's cancellation comes as Behaviour Interactive has a lot going on with Dead by Daylight. The game has several DLCs lined up that will be arriving well into next year.

Project T was unveiled alongside news regarding The Casting of Frank Stone as well as What the Fog, according to Eurogamer.
