Sony officially revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro and will open pre-orders for the upgraded console later this month ahead of its November release window.

The pre-orders will be available on Sept. 26, 2024, directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. They will also be available at participating retailers in territories where the website is not available.

PlayStation 5 Pro Details

Then, on Oct. 10, 2024, pre-orders for the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro console will be available at all other participating retailers. Sony worked over the last few years to evolve players' console experience and deliver amazing games.

CEO Hideaki Nishino announced the addition of the PlayStation 5 Pro to the PlayStation family. He said that the latest unit marks the most advanced and innovative console hardware to date, according to the PlayStation Blog.

Hideaki said that they developed the PlayStation 5 Pro while keeping in mind deeply engaged players and game creators. This is because many of them asked for a console that runs even higher fidelity graphics with smoother frame rates at 60 FPS than the original console.

The upgraded unit features a variety of features, such as an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI-driven upscaling. All of these combined let the PlayStation 5 Pro provide gamers with amazing graphics at high frame rates.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is all about making big TV gaming a happier and more fun experience for players. In a recent preview of the console, more than a dozen games were available that Hideaki talked about, said CNET.

Despite its power, the upgraded unit still manages to maintain a relatively small frame that is nearly the same size as the original PlayStation 5. Some of the major differences between the two units were teased in Sony's 30th-anniversary logo. These are the diagonal black ribbed vents across the center of the console.

An Upgraded Console

The unit's backside also features an extra USB-C port instead of a USB-A port. The PlayStation 5 Pro's size means that it would most likely fit wherever players stored their original PlayStation 5.

PlayStation's Mark Cerny also confirmed the PlayStation 5 Pro's official release date during a technical presentation on Sept. 10, 2024. The upgraded unit is coming out on Nov. 7, 2024, and will be priced at $699.99.

The price will include the unit itself, a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a pre-installed copy of Astro's Playroom. The PlayStation 5 Pro will be sold as a disc-less version but there is a separate PlayStation 5 Disc Drive that can be bought, according to OneEsports.
