A Rockstar Games insider addressed various rumors on the internet talking about the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI). The claims argue that the game will be pushed back to 2026.

They rejected the claims that the studio's latest entry in the highly popular franchise has been moved to 2026 from its current launch window of 2025. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has not yet revealed a more specific date.

Grand Theft Auto VI Release Window

Despite the rumors, it seems that the latest game in the popular franchise is still within its target window for a release. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier posted on X that he has not heard any information about GTA VI being delayed.

He added that he had already spoken to six sources at Rockstar Games who all said that the game is set for its 2025 target window. However, Schreier said that a delay could still be on the horizon as the next installment in the series is a massive undertaking, according to ComicBook.

The reporter said that the internet, as well as his private messages, blew up over the weekend following the spread of the rumor that GTA VI has been delayed. Despite rejecting the claims, he said that there is still a lot of time to say anything definitive about the game's release window.

The development is somewhat good news for many players who are excited to play GTA VI as soon as possible. But for now, fans can only wait for official news from Rockstar Games about the state of its upcoming game.

The original report that GTA VI has been delayed was made by GTABase's @billsyliamgta. He said that the game release window was moved to "early to mid-2026." He added that the PC launch would come 12 to 18 months later, said Forbes.

A Massive Undertaking

While the tweet itself garnered more than 10,000 likes and 4 million views, it was community-noted and not officially confirmed by Rockstar Games. It was supposedly a result of talks with several developers across two different studios.

The possibility that GTA VI could still be delayed despite the recent rumors being addressed comes from a variety of factors. The game still has to be bug-tested and will most likely need a lot of patches.

Fans are now hoping that when the second trailer drops, Rockstar Games will give out some more information about GTA VI's release window. There are talks that a new trailer will come out on Oct. 4, 2024, according to Express.
