Black Myth: Wukong is a visually stunning action role-playing game that takes heavy inspiration from Journey to the West and bases its combat on the soul-like genre.

Newcomers who are only diving into a game such as Black Myth: Wukong for the first time may be overwhelmed with everything that they need to master in order to play the game efficiently. This beginner's tips and tricks guide will help you navigate through the basics and what you should be focusing on.

Take Advantage of Transformation Spells

Transformation spells in Black Myth: Wukong is highly useful and will temporarily let you turn yourself into an enemy and use a new set of attacks. This is particularly useful for bosses because while you are transformed, you don't take damage.

The first one that is recommended to get is the Red Tides spell that is acquired by beating Guangzhi in the Forest of Wolves. This will transform you into a Yaoguai Chieftain who wields a fiery twinblade, according to PCGamer.

Use Focus Points To Deal More Damage

The game features a whole set of stances and attacks that players can use against their enemies in the overworld. The basic principle of combat is building up Focus Points by doing a variety of actions, such as performing attacks and well-timed dodges.

You can consume these points to perform a much more powerful damage-dealing strike that will make short work of your enemies. The most basic usage of Focus Points is to wait for both dials to fill up and then release to perform a downward spinning attack.

Watch Out for Glowing Lights

Black Myth: Wukong's storyline is for the most part linear but there are many large regions that are still left for players to explore if they wish to do so. Some of these will lead you to optional content, including minibosses, side quests, collectibles, and others, said GameSpot.

It's easy to get lost in these areas but fortunately, glowing embers will guide your way to the next Keeper's Shrine, which is the game's version of waypoints, bonfires, or fast travel points.

Experiment With Your Talent Points

The game features several skill trees that correspond to a type of mechanic in the game, such as staff stances, spell categories, transformations, and stat boosts. You can experiment with these trees as much as you want as you are allowed to re-allocate them whenever you wish.

Don't Fear Running Away

For a lot of action-adventure fans, fighting head-on and clearing a quest is the only way to move forward. However, there will be some instances where you bite off more than you can chew and you need to gather yourself before trying the challenge once more.

You should not be afraid of running away when the going gets too tough and this is particularly true in the early stages of Black Myth: Wukong. This is when you encounter an enemy known as Wandering Wight.

This particular foe is near-impossible to beat when you first see it but the thing to note is that the story progresses if you move past it, according to Polygon.
