Call of Duty Cuts Down on Massive Storage Space

In a big win for players, Call of Duty is cutting down the massive storage space its games usually eat up. With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25, there's more good news! Players will see major reductions in file sizes not only for this new game but also for Warzone.

The latest update targets these large files, compressing the Warzone file from a whopping 174GB to 73GB on PlayStation 5 and from 82GB to 67GB on PlayStation 4.

Call of Duty Update Frees Space

Gamers have been living with a headache as many have experienced running out of storage on their consoles just to keep up with the latest and greatest Call of Duty releases. Now, thanks to an update focused on file-size reductions for those very titles, players can finally get some much-needed relief.

The Call of Duty series will experience a pivotal phase, focusing on an upgrade to the Call of Duty HQ application by Activision. The timing is also prime given that Call of Duty: Black Ops will be launched in a few months' time.

Previously, players had to make difficult choices regarding what to store and what to throw away since game files used to take up so much room in their console storage.

The new update has drastically reduced the file sizes for the PlayStation version of the game. For PlayStation 5, the size of the Call of Duty file will reduce from an overwhelming 174GB to a mere 73GB.

Meanwhile, for PlayStation 4, the size of the file will shrink from 82 to 67 GB.

Fresh Changes for Better Gaming

This change is not just about freeing up digital space. Still, it's also about enhancing the overall player experience, allowing more room for additional games without compromising the quality of Warzone or other Call of Duty titles.

These updates are part of Activision's broader strategy to revamp the gaming experience, incorporating better game mechanics and a new engine. This upgrade could potentially bring Call of Duty back to the forefront of gaming, especially after some recent titles in the series have faced criticism.

While the exact timing of the update hasn't been nailed down, speculation suggests it might roll out in time for the first open beta of Black Ops 6. This would give players a fresh look at the game with all the new changes in action.
