Riot Games Expands Valorant to Xbox, PlayStation With Major Update

Riot Games has officially released Valorant on Xbox and PlayStation after a short testing period. This major update brings the same competitive shooter experience to console players in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil.

While players on different consoles can play together, matches between PC and console players are not allowed to keep the game fair.

Valorant Now on Consoles Worldwide

After so long, Riot Games has finally released its tactical shooter, Valorant, to consoles like Xbox and PlayStation. A big move for a game previously exclusively available on PC gamers' platforms, now extending to key markets, such as the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil.

According to Variety, the game will deliver the exact same ultra-high quality in competitive gameplay that rocked players on PC since 2020. Nothing but the full Valorant experience -this is what Riot wants to ensure for players, no matter what platform they're on.

This includes the precise gunplay and strategic team dynamics that define the game.

Some reports that the decision not to allow cross-play between PC and console players is to protect the sanctity of the competition, but console players from different platforms like Xbox and PlayStation can play against each other. This decision supports a fair competitive environment for all players.

Smooth Transition to New Consoles

Right alongside this, Riot Games has ensured that players migrating from PC to consoles will not lose their progress: player data, including friends lists, skins, player cards, and even unlocked agents.

Furthermore, updates like new agents, maps, and premium content will roll out simultaneously across all platforms.

Arnar Gylfason, the production director of Valorant at Riot Games, shared during the open beta feedback period that the company is confident in delivering an exceptional gaming experience on consoles.

They want to help console players get that perfect shot and run faultless team plays, just as their PC counterparts do.
