Yesterday we discovered that PS4 would be getting the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead via an online listing by Gamestop. Any mention of an Xbox One edition was nowhere to be found, but today the gaming retailer has also posted the same title for Microsoft's new console.
The release date is June 17 on both systems, and the title will be the Game of the Year edition. The special edition includes the entire first season of The Walking Dead as well as the bonus 400 Days episode. Season 2 is available now, but has not made it to either next generation system so far.
PS Vita gamers were finally given the second season just yesterday. For reasons unknown, they were forced to wait much longer than players on other systems for Season 2, which launched in December on most platforms. Episode 2 was released last month, and the Vita version comes with both episodes released so far--hopefully they won't have to wait just as long for Episode 3 once it releases on other systems.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will likely see Season 2 eventually too, I would imagine. Telltale can continue to make a profit over time by adding seasons and episodes to different platforms, but everyone wins here because the game is excellent. Telltale is working on several other properties as well, including an exciting Game of Thrones tie-in and a Borderlands title, both of which will be original stories set in those established universes.
