Streets of Rogue 2 Release Date Delayed for Extra Polish

Dabrowski clarified that even in the early access stage, the team wants to make sure they provide the greatest experience possible. The extra time will allow for thorough testing and additional polish. Dabrowski noted that the new schedule would enable a large-scale pre-release playtest, which he believes is crucial for development. His experience with the original Streets Of Rogue showed that extensive playtesting is highly beneficial.

Additional Time for Development and Testing

The delay will also allow Dabrowski, who is the sole programmer and designer for the sequel, to manage the game's complexities better. He acknowledged that predicting the time needed for development tasks can be challenging, especially for an entire early access game. With more time, the group will fix any unforeseen problems and raise the standard of the game as a whole.

The goal of Streets of Rogue 2 is to surpass its predecessor in ambition. A randomly generated open environment far bigger than any level in the original game is promised in the sequel. The delay is considered an opportunity to improve these features, which include numerous new character classes and complex design components.

The playtest, which is slated for late August or early September, will give players the opportunity to take part.
