No Man's Sky is Getting Massive Worlds Part 1 Update To Incorporate Light No Fire Tech

No Man's Sky developer Hello Games is incorporating Light No Fire tech into the former with the massive Worlds Part 1 update.

The announcement comes after the studio's chief developer, Sean Murray, uploaded cryptic posts on X, formerly known as Twitter. His posts incited a theory-crafting frenzy among players, with some thinking that there would be new information regarding Light No Fire.

No Man's Sky's Worlds Part 1 Update

Hello Games chief developer Sean Murray talked a bit about the planned Worlds Part 1 update for No Man's Sky that will completely change the way players experience the game.

Worlds Part 1 is said to be No Man's Sky's biggest update since the Origins update that was released in 2020. The upcoming patch will reportedly focus on much-requested variety and major visual enhancements to the game's universe.

These would include fancy new water effects and what seems to be gameplay that was inspired by Helldivers 2's community-driven Galactic War. Murray made a rare appearance in a new developer video where he discussed the Worlds Part 1 update.

The Hello Games chief developer said that the tech that the studio developed for Light No Fire will be incorporated into No Man's Sky. He also noted that the latest news comes six months after they announced Light No Fire, according to IGN.

Murray noted that the new title is a "crazy ambitious game and we've been working on it for years, and we've learnt so many things and it feels like we're almost bringing this technology back from the future."

He added that the studio has completely refreshed No Man's Sky's universe with new technology, new flora, new fauna, and new gameplay.

Murray revealed that what players see on-screen when playing the game is generated by the computer. He argued that Hello Games is achieving a level of variety that wasn't previously possible.

The new water technology that Hello Games developed is capable of creating waves and reflections. This would most likely make No Man's Sky's ocean planets "feel completely new."

With the help of the Worlds Part 1 update, ships will be able to land on water, planets will get wind patterns, and the waves will become dynamic and react to weather.

It was also said that the Worlds Part 1 update will bring with it "incredible immersion" that will add new storms that sweep over the surface of planets. They will also cause surrounding flowers and fauna to react accordingly, said GamesRadar.

Utilizing New Technology

This reaction includes trees taking a battering or sand billowing up from a planet's surface to further impede players' vision of their surroundings. The new creatures that will be added are scattered across various planets.

Some of these will be understandably hostile when you fire a laser in their direction. Hello Games also teased the new "combat-focused Expedition" that comes with a hulking mech for players to take control of.

The expedition is a new galactic bug hunt that will task players with joining the Liquidator Vanguard and purging it. This comes with new trophies and organic armor parts that you can work towards getting.

The Worlds Part 1 update will also make Walker battles have detailed combat UI and the ability to see and target vulnerabilities in enemies. Another useful change is that players will be able to rename any discovered system, planet, flora, fauna, and minerals to whatever they want, according to Forbes.
