Summoner, a launch title for the PlayStation 2 and was released in 2000 is coming to PlayStation Plus Premium alongside a full slate of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 trophies.
While the game was not a standout PlayStation 2 launch title, it was still able to get a lot of fans. The situation comes as Sony has generally only added trophies to its first-party titles but there have been some third-party games that have been incorporating them recently.
Summoner's Trophy Support
The action role-playing game has a campaign that lasts roughly 25 to 30 hours and will not force players to grind endlessly for a 100% completion rate. However, there will be some challenges due to the game's archaic visuals and cumbersome controls.
However, there are a variety of quality-of-life improvements that will be included in the latest version, including save states and rewind. These new features are expected to make the classic PS2 title a little more easy to play in the modern day, according to PushSquare.
The confirmation that Summoner will get trophies for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 comes after a false start. Those who have played the PlayStation 2 game will remember its life-like scale and mind-blowing graphics for its time.
The game will officially launch on modern consoles on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and the new trophy list seems to be relatively straightforward. It will also have a platinum trophy that players can work on getting which requires getting all other trophies in the game.

Many players are praising Sony's decision to add a platinum trophy support to a wave of PlayStation 2 games. Prior to the latest news, there was talk that Summoner would not get trophy support for modern consoles, which breaks the streak that started last month.
It seemed like adding trophy support for third-party games was going to be the norm moving forward. The titles that got the same treatment include Star Wars The Clone Wars and Tomb Raider Legend, said TrueTrophies.
Burdened With Great Power
Summoner is a game that was developed by Volition, which was also responsible for Saints Row and Red Faction. The official description for the game reads that Summoners have toppled empires and challenged gods.
It added that they are venerated as saviors while also being feared as destroyers as they possess rings crafted by the ancient Khosani. While the gifted are capable of calling forth demons, dragons, and elementals, only the most powerful are able to control the forces that they unleash.
The main character, Joseph, is born with the mark of the Summoner and possesses a power that is greater than emperors and gods. When he was just a child, he was able to summon a demon in order to save his village but he watched in horror as those he loved were destroyed.
After nine years from the destruction of the village, the armies of Orenia invaded and Joseph must now confront the prophecy that he was born to fulfill.
Summoner is coming to modern consoles alongside many other titles, such as Job Simulator, Jeanne d'Arc, Remnant 2, and many more, according to GamingBible.
