Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Character Takeda Takahashi Gets First Gameplay Footage

Mortal Kombat 1's next DLC character, Takeda Takahashi, has gotten his first gameplay footage that shows off his fighting prowess.

Developer NetherRealm Studios released the trailer for the final Year 1 DLC character ahead of Takeda's July 23, 2024, release alongside Kameo character Ferra. The upcoming fighter is one of the so-called Kombat Kids.

The latest gameplay footage showed off some of Takeda's moves and combos, which revolve around his trademark bladed whips. The trailer also showed his pre-fight interactions with other characters, such as Johnny Cage, who wants him to star in a superteam action movie.

The footage ended with a showcase of Takeda's fatality, which is where he wraps his hapless victim tightly using his bladed whips. He then slowly retracts them, grinding them before completely destroying their body and slicing their decapitated head off in two.

The official description said that Takeda, similar to his cousin Kenshi, was raised by a Yakuza. But unlike the latter, the upcoming DLC character enjoyed this particular lifestyle, according to IGN.

This is the reason why Takeda decided to end Kenshi's crusade against his masters and their fight mortally wounded Takeda. But unwilling to let him die, Kenshi rushed Takeda to the nearest help, the Shirai Ryu, where he was healed.

Takeda is the last of the six Kombat Pack 1 DLC characters that have come out, the others being; Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, and Homelander. Furthermore, dataminers have already found evidence that suggests the next six DLC characters that may come to Mortal Kombat 1.

While the latest gameplay trailer showed off Takeda's moves and combos, it did not feature Ferra, who is the small fighter sitting atop the hulking Torr as part of the combined Ferra & Torr character from Mortal Kombat X.

Takeda being Kenshi's cousin is an alternate timeline as they were previously father and son in Mortal Kombat X. The upcoming character utilizes the Shirai Ryu fighting style and he is also equipped with shurikens, a barrage of teleporting flame attacks, and an aerial grapple, said GameInformer.

The Last Kombat Pack 1 DLC Character

When the DLC character becomes available on July 23, 2024, he will be both a standalone purchase and a free download for players who own the Kombat Pack. Both Takeda and Terra will be playable for the first time during Evo 2025 which will be held this weekend.

Takeda has comparable reach with Dhalsim from the Street Fighter franchise but he does not appear to be a zoning character. It also seems like the last Kombat Pack 1 DLC character can keep your enemies guessing with high and low mix-ups from various ranges.

One of the character's specials has him throwing ninja stars at the ground which will later explode after a set amount of time. He can also utilize his blade whips similar to Scorpion's Spear special.

However, the upcoming DLC character tends to pull himself towards the opponent rather than pulling his enemy closer. When he is airborne, Takeda throws his bladed whips diagonally downwards, according to EventHubs.
