Changes to the Xbox 360 Store

The Xbox 360, launched 18 years ago, was a landmark in gaming. Starting July 29, 2024, the Xbox 360 Store will no longer support purchases of games, DLC, or other entertainment content.

Additionally, the Microsoft Movies & TV app will stop working on the Xbox 360, making TV and movie content inaccessible on the console after this date. However, until then, players can continue to buy games and DLC from the Xbox 360 Store and Marketplace.

Continuing Support for Xbox 360 Games

Despite these changes, players can still play Xbox 360 games and DLC they already own. The content will remain playable on Xbox 360 consoles and newer models like Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility.

Microsoft emphasized its commitment to preserving access to purchased content, ensuring players can re-download and play their games. Multiplayer functionality will also continue, provided game publishers support the online servers.

Microsoft aims to make Xbox Series X|S the premier gaming platform while ensuring the legacy of the Xbox 360 remains intact. The company has enhanced many Xbox 360 titles for better performance on newer consoles, including features like FPS Boost and Auto HDR.
