Once Human Gets Official Launch After Several Playtests This Year

Developer Starry Studio finally launched its post-apocalyptic game Once Human after having several playtests earlier this year.

On top of the official release, the development team also outlined some of their upcoming plans in a blog post. These include a significant new feature that players should keep a lookout for, which is the introduction of seasons.

For those who have been eagerly waiting for Once Human to come out, the wait is finally over and the game will be accessible without you having to worry about whether or not your character will be deleted completely.

Players who have also tried the game before the official release will see some noticeable changes in the latest version. The latest update to Once Human brings a fresh approach to gameplay as each season will present distinct adventures and themes that were designed to keep the experience fun.

At the end of each season, the items and achievements that players have will transfer over to a special personal world known as Eternaland. This is a realm that is specially designed to foster creativity as it allows you to build and customize your own unique spaces away from the open world, according to MMORPG.

Players will also be able to choose whether or not they want to replay a familiar season or embark on entirely new adventures. The developers provided a lengthy launch day Q&A on the Steam page of Once Human itself.

There were some questions that Starry Studio answered regarding topics such as the differences between the game's PvE and PvP scenarios, known as Manibu and Evolution's Call, respectively.

They also answered questions about what would happen at the end of a season, the game's minimum system requirements, and what would happen if the game crashed. The developers are planning to have a launch day livestream on July 10, 2024, and July 11, 2024, from 17:00 to 20:00 PDT, to provide more information.

A Variety of Changes

While the game will be removing your character completely at the end of each season, there will be wipes that will reset everyone's progress. Starry Studio also noted that you will not be able to have more than one character at a time, said GamesRadar.

The game's seasonal wipes were common knowledge to players who had been keeping an eye out on the game's pre-launch tests. However, the exact mechanics of the game's seasons were still unknown until recently.

Once Human is an open-world survival shooter where players take control of a "Meta-Human" who is making their way around an environment that is corrupted by Stardust. This has caused the area to be warped and has resulted in a chaotic situation.

You are able to chop down trees, build bases, and craft or obtain weapons of various strengths that are seen in other titles. While Once Human is cross-platform, it will not be so for Steam accounts for the moment due to their "inherent limitations."

The developers have also suggested using NetEase's Loading Bay launcher instead to make things easier for players. Furthermore, Once Human currently is not compatible with the Steam Deck console, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.
