PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge Controller Gets Surprise Sale Ahead of Prime Day

PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge Controller Gets Surprise Sale Ahead of Prime Day

PlayStation 5's DualSense Edge Controller is surprisingly on sale now ahead of Prime Day and will cost 13% cheaper than the original price of $200.

While the actual sale amount is not that much, what is worth noting is that the DualSense Edge controller almost never goes at a discounted price. This is all part of Walmart's larger sale that it is using to try and compete with Amazon Prime Day.

Many people are not expecting to see a much better deal than this particular sale even when Prime Day rolls around. A lot of players are also expecting that Amazon will not be giving a sale on the DualSense controller at all.

The DualSense Edge controller is a professional-grade device for the PlayStation 5 similar to the Xbox Elite was for the Series X. Walmart's latest sale for the item brings its price down to $174.99.

The controller offers pro-level features, including grips, adjustable analog sticks, mappable rear buttons, profiles, and many others. You will also be able to swap out the standard analog stick tops and replace them with convex ones that come in two different heights, according to IGN.

There are two different options for the back buttons for the DualSense Edge controller; levers similar to those in the Xbox Elite Series 2, or smaller nubs. However, one of the most important features of any pro controller is the triggers and this is something that is true for PlayStation 5's controllers.

Next to each device's trigger is a stop slider that lets you adjust how far you have to press the trigger down to make it register in-game. There are a variety of settings that can be chosen, including standard, medium, or short travel distances.

All of these tech features are contained in a hard shell case that allows for easy storage and transport when needed. The case also has a flap that lets players charge the controller itself while it is inside the case.

Various Professional Features

The sale for the DualSense Edge controller will run until July 11, 2024, and comes only a few months after it was first released earlier this year. On top of the previously noted features, the device also has a USB-C charging cable for ease of charging, said GameSpot.

One review for the controller said that the people who made it incorporated years of learning from competitors to present a device that gets all the right things. It is a good high-end video game controller that improves the user experience in some key ways.

The sale comes after Sony rolled out a new PlayStation 5 update that improved the speakers and microphone on DualSense controllers. It added pointers and emoji reactions to the Screen Share feature and also introduced the ability to adjust the brightness of the power indicator.

The firmware update for the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers gave the devices improved output volume of in-game sounds and voice chat. The microphones on both controllers have also been improved to cancel out background noise such as button presses, according to The Verge.
