Avowed Director Ensures Unique Experiences for Main Quests, Side Content : Games : Gamenguide

Avowed is an upcoming action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios, set in the world of Eora, the same universe as Pillars of Eternity. Creative director Carrie Patel has been giving several interviews about the game, highlighting the effort to make side content as engaging as main quests. The game is set to release later this year.

Focus on Quality and Player Engagement

In a recent interview with Windows Central, Patel, along with gameplay director Gabe Paramo, discussed the choices and consequences in Avowed. They emphasized that both main and side quests will be filled with meaningful choices. Patel mentioned that the story within the Living Lands will offer players numerous decisions, even in smaller side moments.

Patel explained that players will make choices throughout the game, not just in main quests but also in side quests and smaller moments. This approach is different from other games that use filler content for side missions. She assured players that Obsidian has put the same effort into side content as they have into the main quests.

Patel emphasized that every quest, whether big or small, is designed to be worth the player's time and offers a unique experience.

Improved Combat and Community Feedback

Patel and Paramo also addressed the mixed feedback after the first gameplay trailer was released earlier this year. Many players were concerned about the game's combat mechanics. Paramo noted that the team took this feedback seriously and worked to improve the combat.

By the time the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 trailer was released, the combat had been significantly polished. Obsidian focused on enhancing the feeling and impact of weapon swings to create a better experience for players.

Avowed is rumored to be released on November 12, 2024, though an official date has not been confirmed.
