Dragon Age: The Veilguard Dev Reveals New Details About Customizable Difficulty Settings

The developer behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard, BioWare, shared some new information regarding the upcoming game's customizable difficulty settings, including an option to turn death off entirely.

BioWare revealed that players will be able to choose between several difficulty options or playstyles before starting a playthrough. There are three main options that you will choose from; Storyteller, Adventurer, and Nightmare.

The Storyteller option is for those who want to prioritize the game's story over its combat while Adventurer seems to be for players who want a balance between the two. On the other hand, choosing Nightmare is only for those who are willing to take on a challenging gameplay experience.

It was also noted that players will be able to change the difficulty setting at any point while playing unless they choose Nightmare because this one is a permanent choice. There is also another option known as "Unbound."

This particular setting will let you customize your gameplay experience by making adjustments to how wayfinding and combat timing work in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This difficulty setting includes aim assistance and auto-aim options, according to the Video Game Chronicle.

On top of these, the Unbound setting also lets players choose how much damage they wield and take from enemies and this is where the no-death option can be found.

Game director Corinne Busche said that none of these options are a chat because they are all optional which expands the game's accessibility.

The expansive difficulty options are just another way that BioWare is designing Dragon Age: The Veilguard with inclusivity in mind. This was also seen in the game's character creator, which many consider the best one in the history of the franchise.

It includes hundreds of sliders and options for players to customize their player-controlled Rook and also lets you pick pronouns separate from gender. On top of these, the effort also extends to the game's world, said GameInformer.

This can be seen with ice mage and private detective companion Neve Gallus having a prosthetic leg, which is only one example of many in Dragon Age; The Veilguard. Busche also noted that players can look forward to similar accessibility and approachability options to be revealed in the future.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Story Progression

The game will also focus its story progression around the world's various factions as well as players' ability to urge each to join their cause. Creative director John Epler said that the message of the game is that you will not be saving the world by lonesome.

It encourages you to realize that you will need help to complete your main objective and that these factions and other groups out in the world are part of that. He added that if you help them, they, in turn, will help you.

This is something that makes more narrative sense in that players gather random resources, such as Shards, in order to save the world from devastation, which is something that was seen in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The factions in the new game will tie into your own version of the game's protagonist for whom you'll be able to pick a starting faction to align with. Dragon Age fans will be familiar with many of these and include the Grey Wardens and Antivan Crows, according to Eurogamer.
