Grand Theft Auto Online Update Includes Tiny Reference to Highly Anticipated GTA VI Game

A new update for Grand Theft Auto Online introduced a lot of new content for the game but also featured a tiny reference to the trailer of the highly anticipated Rockstar Game, Grand Theft Auto VI.

This is in the form of a necklace that was seen in the GTA VI trailer being available for purchase in GTA Online in the new Bottom Dollar Bounties update. The item was first seen by a user on the GTA VI subreddit.

The necklace was originally seen being worn around the neck of a bikini-clad NPC in the trailer for Rockstar Games' GTA VI trailer. The item is now available for players to buy at GTA Online's pricey high-fashion retailer, Ponsonby's.

The item, which is aptly named "Silver Layered Necklace" in GTA Online, is the latest expensive accessory addition to the Ponsonby's catalog that has players convinced it has some sort of significance to either game.

One comment on the subreddit post said, "Could be a stretch but whatever the price of that necklace is might mean something." Another user replied and suggested that the item's price could somehow be a hint at the launch date for GTA VI, according to GameSpot.

It is highly likely that the addition of the necklace to GTA Online's bounty-hunting update is a simple easter egg that references the trailer for GTA VI. However, this has not slowed down players from speculating that it could mean something substantial.

This is probably because GTA VI is the next mainline entry to the beloved franchise and is currently scheduled to arrive sometime in 2025. However, Rockstar Games has not yet revealed an official launch date for the upcoming title.

This year, the reveal of GTA VI has been one of gaming's top stories for many different reasons. The launch trailer for the game was hijacked and hacked before the studio was able to officially share it with the public.

No Official Release Date

The British teenager who played a key role in the GTA VI hack is Arion Kurtaj and he was detained indefinitely for his online attack on Rockstar Games. He had previously faced blackmail charges for similar digital fraud on British Telecom and mobile provider EE, said ReadWrite.

The speculations surrounding the necklace's addition to GTA Online bring into light Rockstar Games' experience with fans' patience with GTA VI. As the former is part of GTA V, many are questioning how GTA VI's version of the online game will be made available for players.

Some are asking whether it would be sold standalone, free-to-download, or become part of GTA VI's package. There are also those who are wondering what will happen to GTA V's GTA Online when the latest game in the franchise launches.

The first official trailer for GTA VI came out and became the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube within 24 hours. It showed that the game is set in modern-day Leonida, which is a fictional version of Florida, and will let you control Lucia and an unnamed male protagonist, according to IGN.
