Lawsuit Against Modder Ryan Daly

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against Ryan Daly, accusing him of running a business called Modded Hardware. According to the lawsuit, Daly was warned in March to stop selling modded Switch consoles and devices that allowed users to play pirated games. Despite agreeing to cease these activities, Daly allegedly continued.

Nintendo's lawsuit lists six charges against him, including copyright infringement and "trafficking in circumvention devices." Daly is also accused of offering a mail-in service where customers could send their consoles to be modified, with pirated games pre-installed.

Legal Action Against Reddit Moderator James Williams

Nintendo is also suing James Williams, who is accused of being a key figure behind several pirate shops offering pirated Nintendo Switch games. Williams, known as Archbox on Reddit, moderated the r/SwitchPirates group. In this role, he allegedly directed users to his pirate shops and provided advice on modding consoles to play pirated games.

Nintendo claims Williams openly acknowledged his illegal activities and referred to himself as a "pirate." The lawsuit states that he operated four pirate shops, with only one still active. Nintendo seeks financial damages from Williams and aims to shut down his remaining shop and associated social media accounts.
